NACCA, the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association, is a network of over 50 Aboriginal
Financial Institutions (AFIs) dedicated to stimulating economic growth for all Indigenous people in
Canada. NACCA’s goal is to provide opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs and increase prosperity
for Indigenous people in Canada.
NACCA advocates for Indigenous economic development by focusing on the following: representing the
unified voice of AFIs; publishing national and regional results of AFI work; fostering partnerships and
building capacity; and delivering programs, products, and services to AFIs.
The Position
The Credit Risk Manager plays a key role in recommending new credit and extensions of credit, performing due-diligence, research, and analysis of financial documents for the Indigenous Growth Fund. They will liaise with Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs) throughout the credit application and adjudication stages and will foster and maintain strong relationships with AFIs ensuring robust loan monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
•Acting as IGF’s main point of contact for AFI loan applications and continuous loan administration
•Analyzing and evaluating existing and potential loans using sound credit judgement skills, ensuring lending policies and procedures and eligibility requirements are met
•Preparing and presenting a sound credit recommendation to senior management and the credit committee
•Perform annual and quarterly monitoring for existing credit facilities
•Make recommendations for continuous improvement of internal policies, procedures and processes
•Draft written loan approvals for new loans and modifications for existing loans as needed
•Maintain a current understanding of banking industry standards and practices
Qualifications and Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or Economics; business related Masters or professional designation (CPA, CFA) would be an asset
•Minimum of 7 years related experience in credit risk management and commercial lending
•Sound knowledge and understanding of business financial statements, business case, cash flow analysis, commercial lending security documentation, including collection/work-out techniques and remedies
•Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work independently using initiative and good judgment to assess priorities
•Excellent credit writing skills; demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to solving difficult challenges and seizing opportunities
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
•Excellent cross-cultural skills
This is a full-time position located in Ottawa.
